Windows 10 ESU cost confirmed for the UK program

4 September 2025

With the official end date for Windows 10 support fast approaching on the 14th October, it’s now possible to purchase licenses on the Win 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program via CSP and EES agreements.

What is ESU?

ESU is the Extended Security Update program, that provides critical and important security updates for your Windows 10 devices on a per-device basis for an annual cost.

Devices must already be running the latest version of Windows 10 (22H2) to be eligible. The ESU program only provides security updates, and doesn’t include new features or technical support. It’s also expensive for organisations, especially for years 2 and 3, and is only available for a maximum of 3 years.

Whilst we would encourage organisations to upgrade existing devices to Windows 11 or purchase Windows 11 devices wherever possible, the ESU program is a way to keep devices secure where there is no alternative.

How much is the Windows 10 ESU program?

For businesses:
The recommend cost for commercial organisations is £58 in year 1, with prices in year 2 and year 3 expected to double each year.

For education:
The cost from Microsoft for education customers should be FREE (£0) in year 1, with the costs in year 2 and 3 not yet confirmed.

For charities and non-profits:
The cost from Microsoft for non-profit customers should be FREE (£0) in year 1, with the costs in year 2 and 3 not yet confirmed.
