At Primary Technology, we recognise that prioritising mental wellbeing should be a core part of every workplace. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to share that seven members of our team have recently completed their Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) training, accredited by Qualsafe.
This marks a significant step in our ongoing commitment to creating a supportive, safe and inclusive working environment, where colleagues feel genuinely heard, understood, and valued.
The newly qualified Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) are now equipped with the practical skills and knowledge needed to support their peers both in times of need and during everyday conversations with meaningful, compassionate support, creating a resilient and caring workplace culture. Their role is not to replace professional help, but to act as an approachable, trained point of contact for anyone who may be experiencing mental health challenges.
Our MHFAs are now better prepared to:
- Recognise, understand and spot the early signs of common mental health issues
- Provide confidential, non-judgemental initial support and reassurance
- Guide individuals to appropriate professional resources and support networks
- Promote a positive, open culture around mental health in the workplace
One of our newly trained MHFAs, Mark Tonks, reflected on the experience; “Becoming a Mental Health First Aider means gaining the confidence to step forward when someone is struggling – equipped with practical skills to listen, support and guide them towards help. It’s about turning awareness into action, making every workplace a safer, more understanding environment, and highlights why MHFA training is essential for driving real change and breaking the stigma surrounding Mental Health.”
This initiative is just one part of our wider focus on wellbeing, and we’re proud of the steps we’re taking as a company to support mental health in a meaningful way. Some of our MHFAs are now leading a monthly Workplace Mental Health & Well-being Meeting, which is an open, supportive space where team members can come together to discuss mental health and share experiences. Participation is encouraged but never expected, our colleagues are welcome to simply listen in if they’d prefer not to engage.
A huge well done to everyone involved – we’re proud of your commitment to making Primary Technology a more compassionate and connected place to work.
