Overview
In September 2017 Aire View Infant School and Hothfield Junior School came together to form what is now known as Silsden Primary School. At the time of the merger, the school was based across two sites with one Governing body and one Headteacher.
In early 2020, work began on a new purpose-built school covering all ages from Nursery to Year 6 at their new Hawber Cote Lane location on the outskirts of Silsden. On January 11th 2022, the Silsden Primary new build was officially opened.
As a school in the heart of its community, their door is always open to parents and friends of the school to come and share the learning of the Silsden children.
As a new build school, Silsden Primary was perfectly placed to be more creative with its building infrastructure than would be possible across two older buildings. Whilst there is more freedom when installing solutions into a new school, it is important that all solutions are planned, managed and communicated well in advance with the principal building contractor and client.
The school’s intention was to create an awe-inspiring centrepiece for its multi-purpose hall, using the same methodology applied with the other audio-visual technology throughout the school. School leaders wanted a solution that would not only attract the attention of their students, parents and visitors, but deliver content to the them that is both modern and engaging.
There’s no doubt about the excitement that a video wall can bring, however the practicality of making it work is a key factor that needed to be taken into consideration first. With the hall also being used for dining and sports, any audio-visual equipment installed had to be protected from the frequent ball games and activities carried out in this environment.
Silsden Primary are able to use their new video wall for multiple purposes including dining, sports and hugely immersive assemblies. Pupils, parents and visitors are instantly impressed by the video wall and their attention is focused on what is being displayed. The video wall can even be used in future by the local community and organisations for conferences.
The video wall also has a much higher possible display resolution than a projected image, offering an inclusive experience by optimising the visibility for all viewers.
The chosen Panasonic LFV9 displays are specifically designed for 24/7 operation and come with a comprehensive warranty providing school leaders with peace of mind.
In addition to fantastic productions, immersive assemblies, reliable components and spectacular large format displays, the video wall is a brilliant medium to tell the story and history of Silsden Primary and create an unforgettable first impression.
